What does that task cost you a year?

Enter how long a repeated task takes and how often it is done, and see what it costs a year and how long an automation would take to pay for itself.

By everybody who does it, added together.

Count only what it would do with nobody checking it.

46 is 52 less four weeks' annual leave and the ten public holidays. Change it to suit you.

How it works

Hours a year are the minutes each time, times the number of times a week, times the working weeks in your year, divided by sixty. The cost is those hours times what an hour of that time costs you. The saving is that cost times the share of the task the automation would do, less twelve months of whatever the automation's own tools charge.

Payback is a Build price divided by the monthly saving. The prices are read from our Build page: €1,500 for one connection between two systems, €3,000 for up to five workflows.

The working weeks start at 46: 52, less the four weeks of annual leave the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 gives a full-time employee, and Ireland's ten public holidays. Change it to match your year.

What it cannot tell you

  • It counts hours only. Fewer mistakes, faster replies and work that no longer waits for one person are worth something too, and none of that is in the figure.
  • It takes your figures as given. Timing the task once with a stopwatch gives a better answer than a guess.
  • An automation that uses personal data needs a record, and sometimes an assessment, before it runs: what to write down first.
