The EU AI Act, for a business in Ireland
The dates in this Act have moved once already, and most Irish guidance published before August 2026 still carries the old ones.
The AI Act is the piece of this site people arrive at first, and it is the one where being out of date is most expensive. The high-risk regime that most Irish advisory content is written about was deferred by sixteen months in July 2026. The prohibitions and the transparency duties that are already in force were not deferred at all, and they are the ones an ordinary Irish employer is most likely to be breaching without knowing it.
The articles below separate the two. Each one names the article of the Regulation it is about and the date that article starts, because a claim about an obligation with no date attached is not usable by anybody who has to decide what to do this quarter.
Where the answer is that the Act leaves you alone, that is what the article says. Most Irish businesses are deployers of ordinary software and the honest reading of their position is light.
