There are two accessibility regimes in Ireland and they bind different people. Most summaries collapse them into one and get both wrong.
Ireland has a public sector web accessibility duty that has existed since 2020 and a private sector one that has existed since June 2025. They come from different Directives, they are transposed by different statutory instruments, they are policed by different bodies, and they do not require the same things. A business reading guidance written for the public sector regime will do work it does not owe and miss work it does.
